Oak Alley Plantation

Project Description

Client:   Oak Alley Plantation
Location:   Vacherie, LA 70090

Oak Alley Plantation is a historic plantation located on the west bank of the Mississippi River, in the community of Vacherie, St. James Parish, Louisiana, U.S. It is protected as a National Historic Landmark.

The Challenges

When Oak Alley decided to upgrade their naturally ventilated reception hall on the plantation grounds, they turned to EnviroGreen to professionally prescribe and apply the correct formulation.

After a detailed study of the project requirements, our team recommended a 1.2 lb density open cell or hybrid open cell product. This particular open cell foam will help maintain an energy efficient space, yet it looks and feels just like a high-density closed cell.

Because it is much more rigid than a typical .5 lb density open cell foam, Oak Alley was then able to apply paint to the surface for aesthetic purposes dictated by the weddings and other parties that frequently use the space. And yes, the name of the color they selected was Brown Sugar.

The Circle Bar

Project Description

Client:   The Circle Bar
Location:   New Orleans, LA 70130

Small, funky bar drawing locals with indie rock shows & other live music plus happy hour too.

The Challenges

Sun Custom Restoration (SCR) specializes in remodeling older homes in the French Quarter, Marigny, and Uptown. Recently, they contracted EnviroGreen to help provide the Circle Bar with some much needed insulation and sound control between the first floor live bands and the second floor rental apartments.

After an extended period of working in partnership with the architect and Sun Custom Restoration, EnviroGreen prescribed a thoughtful combination of open cell and MinWool sound attenuation fire batt insulation.

The professional application of these specifically recommended formulations satisfied all directing parties, including the New Orleans Fire Marshall. We’ve had no complaints from the neighbors.

Insectarium Butterfly

Audubon Institute Insectarium Butterfly Exhibit

Installing Magnetite Windows

Project Description

Client:   Audubon Institute
Location:   New Orleans, LA 70116
Year Completed:   2015

The Audubon Butterfly Garden and Insectarium is an insectarium and entomology museum in New Orleans, Louisiana. It opened on June 13, 2008. With more than 50 live exhibits and numerous multimedia elements, the 23,000-square-foot facility is the largest free-standing American museum dedicated to insects.

The Challenges

EnviroGreen was the company the Audubon Institute called when the Butterfly Garden and Insectarium needed to solve a unique problem. The butterflies couldn’t land on the windows due to condensation.

EnviroGreen installed Magnetite Windows…keeping the windows moisture free, and the butterflies happy.
